confirmed, and your Petitioner is also ordered to abide by
their determination, and also to refer himself to the said
Assembly touching two thousand pounds security, which His
Excely and the Councill have already judged fitt he should
enter into, for the true performance of his Office, a precedent
wholy new and never practised in this Province nor possible
for him a stranger to comply with.
Your Majesty's Petitioner therefore his Protestation not
being admitted in Councill, doth humbly cast himself at Your
Majesty's feet and doth protest and appeal to Your Majesty
against these hardships and unusual practises, which he can-
not but think illegal, and doth humbly pray that he may quietly
enjoy what the former Secretarys always had, and what Your
Majy by your Letters Patents hath been graciously pleased to
grant him, and that Your Majesty would please to confirm to
him the benefitt of either of the two Laws of Naval Officer or
Licencer of the Ordinarys, one of which or other was always
belonging to his Office. That Your Majesty would please to
command the said Order of the 17th of August to be recalled
and vacuated and to order your Petitioner to give such security
for the true discharge of his Office as former Secretarys of
this Province have given, or as he reasonably may or ought to
give,

Present
The Kings most excellent Majesty in Council.

Upon reading this day at the Board the humble petition of
Charles Lord Baltemore praying His Majy's positive commands
to Colonell Copley Governor of Maryland to suffer the Peti-
tioners Collector to receive the Port dutys or Anchorage
Money as formerly, according to two severall letters from His
Maj: and an Order of this Board in that behalfe It is ordered
by His Majesty in Councill, that the consideration of the Peti-
tioner's request be referred to the Right Honble the Lords of
the Committee for Trade and Plantations who are to report
their opinion thereupon to this Board that such Order may be
given therein as shall be found requisite.
