To his Excellency Lionel Copley Esqr Captain Generall and
the Honble the Councill of their Majestys Province of Maryland
The humble Petition of Robert Carvile
Humbly sheweth
That your Petitioner hath for above these 23 Years till these
late Revolutions been a practiser as an Attorney in the Pro-
vincial Court of this Province and hath so demeaned himself
in the said Office that he hath generally given satisfaction to
the good People thereof but by reason your Petitioner cannot
comply in Conscience with the oaths by the Law now Pre-
scribed, your Petr is suspended from his Practise aforesaid
having severall old Causes of Great Moment as well of his
Clients as his own particular concern still depending undeter-
mined still in the Provinciall Chancery & Commissary Courts
which will all or most of them be put to a period the next
Provinciall Court

Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays your Honours will
be graciously pleased to permit your Petitioner to make an
end of those his old Causes only and so long to Continue an
Attorney which otherwise may be of great loss and Damage
if not of ruin to him if he must refund his Fees received or
pay other Attorneys for to finish the same
5th Decemb 1692 And your petitioner shall pray &ca
Ro: Carvile

Which petition being read and its Contents duly and
maturely Considered it is the Opinion of this Board that they
give for answer thereto that they Cannot with safety dis-
pence with the Law in permitting the Petr openly to practise
in Person but he may and hath liberty hereby given him to
make use of any other attorney to plead and prosecute for
him those actions by him already commenced and wherein he
hath been employed upon such terms as he can agree
Ordered also that for the future no Roman Catholick or other
Person whatsoever unqualify'd by Law do in any manner
directly or indirectly practise as an Attorney or Councellor at
Law either in publick pleading or otherwise solliciting any
Cause

To his Excellency the Governor & the Honble Councill
The petition of Iohn Lowe of Talbot County
humbly Sheweth
That Michael Turbut of the same County the 20th day of
October 1685 had warrt granted him for Five hundred acres
of land one hundred and thirty acres whereof not yet laid out
as p Indorsment on the back of the said warrant by the Sur-
veyor is assignd your Petitioner
Your Petitioner prays the renewmt of the part assigned him
And shall pray &ca
