William Joseph Esqre who then tooke the place of president of
the Council and then administered the same oathes to the said
Coll: Darnall and Coll: Digges and to the honoble Coll: Thomas
Tailler Major Nicholas Sewall and Mr Clement Hill.

At a Council held at the City of St Maries
the fifth day of October 1688.

It haveing bin the 29th of September last ordered that dayes
should be set apart for the proclaiming and solempnizing the
birth of the prince It is now by this board ordered that the
day for that purpose in and for the City and County of St
Maries be on the Eleaventh day of October Instant and in each
other County in the Province on the first day of November
next, and that all persons and all servants slaves and others
abstaine on those dayes from bodily labour. And that all
shipps and vesselles in the Rivers harbours and Creekes of
this Province on those dayes in their severall places spread
their flaggs and discharge their guns in token of joy for the
aforesaid greate blessing And that Mr Francis Pennington
Preist of the Society have notice given him requesting him to
be at St Maries Chappell on the said 11th day of this month to
render thanks to the Divine Majesty for the aforesaid ines-
teemable blessing And that Proclamacons forthwith issue for
the proclaiming the birth of the said Prince throughout the
province.

A Letter sent to Capt Philipps upon occasion
of the birth of the Prince.

Whereas the Lords of his Mates most honobIe Privy Council
by Command of his most Excellent Maty upon the greate
blessing of the birth of our most glorious prince on the 10th of
June last have intimated to his Lordsp the Right honoble the
Lord Propty of this Province That his said Lordsp should
appoynt such dayes throughout this province as well for a
solemne thanksgiving to Almighty God for this his soe ines-
timable a blessing as for such other expressions of publick
rejoyceing sutable to this greate occasion as his Lordsp should
