without offering any further violence, and would come again
about Cohunk time as they term'd it and make Peace with the
English, and bring Presents for that purpose, as they told our
Indians, but to it we can yet give little Credit, and doubt
whether it may not be a Pretence only to lull us asleep at
Present, and give them a fitter opportunity of executing their
designes against us, however it is thought fit to have our
Frontiers diligently Ranged and Scoured, and our Militia in
places most Obnoxious in a readiness, and the French Prisoner
still to detain in Custody till we can make some further dis-
covery, and likewise to give you this necessary Information at
present untill an Opportunity of more certain Intelligence
may present from

George Hope of Ann Arundell County petitions the Board
and prays an order to Resurvey the Lands of Mr Constable,
Henry Hall and his own, to distinguish thereby the limits and
bounds of his own land which he alledges he Cannot do, with-
out a Certainty of one Line of Mr Constables Land: Coll
Greeneberry is requested and undertakes to procure of Mr Con-
stable the favour to give the Petitr satisfaction therein by per-
mitting him by a sworn Surveyor to Run out that Line

To his Excellency Lionel Copley Esqr Captain Generall and
Governor in chief in and over this his Majestys Province and
Territory of Maryland
The Petition of Thos Plummer of Ann
Arundell County Senr
most humbly sheweth
That at a County Court held for Calvert County in the
month of Ianuary last past your Petitioners Daughter to her
great Shame and Infamy, and to the great Grief & trouble of
your Petitioner was convicted of having a Bastard child, where-
upon it pleas'd the Commissioners of the said County Court
in Remission of the Corporall Punishment due to her for the
same, grievously to fine your Petitioner the sum of six thou-
sand pounds of Tobacco an unparalled and unheard of mulct

and as your Petitioner humbly Conceives against Law, and
shou'd he be compelled to pay the same wou'd prove the utter
ruin and destruction of himself his Wife and Children and of
a necessity bring them a charge upon the County, having
nothing wherewith to maintain them, but his own Care Industry
& Labour and some small matter it hath pleased God thereby
to bless him with your petitioners Daughter is very much
