Interp it appearing to this Board that he hath most noto-
riously contradicted himself, and wavered in most parts of his
examination, gives good grounds of Suspicion that he is not
right and therefore purpose to deliver him to our Friend
Jndians to deal with him as they shall think fitt
Captain Thomas Richardson called in declares that the
Prisoner at his first taking and examination pretended and
alledged that if he did not return again to those Indians, they
woud suspect he was killed as the Interpreter Mr Vansweer-
ingen had before reported, which as before Contradicts what
he the said Prisoner now declared upon his examination,
wherefore it is again resolved that he be delivered up to our
Friend Jndians, & mean time be remanded into the Custody
of the Sheriff of Ann Arrundell County there to be securely
and safely kept untill further Orders Iacob Looton accord-
ing to Summons appears he is charged and accused for En-
couraging and inviting of Foreign Indians to come into this
Province, and trade with him He saith that they were con-
ducted and brought to him by another Englishman in order to
set them over Susquehannah River
Quer how came he to entertain and trade with them with-
out giving notice thereof as he ought to some Majistrate,

Ansr He dealt with them only for a little Corne and about
Half a Dozen Matchcoats Captain Maxwell examind saith
that he was at the said Iacob Lootons house with a Party of
Men and desired to speak with him the said Looton, but coud
receive no other Ansr from him but that they were his
Friends and seemed very Angry with him and his Men for
disturbing of him, it was his Market Day and there was an
Act coming out to Prohibit any trade with the Indians, and
then nothing was to be done without a License &ca
The said Maxwell further saith that the said Lootons Wife
was also in great Passion and turned their Horses loose, par-
ticularly seeking after the said Maxwells Horse, and immedi-
ately went to turn him Loose but as it fell out it was another
mans, Mr Thomas Iones called in and examined saith that
the said Looten alledged that Captain Browne had brought
those Indians down to him, and that was warrant enough for
him to walk by
Iames Frisell examind saith that the said Looton did declare
they had three hundred Beavor Skins, and he must have one
half of them Mr Iones further saith that when the French Pris-
oner first came in, there was a rumor of these Indians and he
himself went to see the French man, but before he came Captn
Richardson had carried him down, that coming to Mr Thurs-
tons the woman there told him they were Delaware Indians
whereupon he and the rest of hjs Company concluded to goto
