with such further sume as shall, remain after deduction of the
duty of 14d per Tun and the one fourth part of the one shilling
per hoggshead for the buying of Arms and Amunition be
allowed to Colonell Copley in consideration of his attendance
and expence relating to the Government of Maryland and in
satisfaction of his salary untill Michaelmas last. And the
Right Honble the Lords Commissioners of their Majesties'
Treasury are desired to give the necessary directions to the
Receiver Generall of the customs to pay the same accordingly.

in Councill.

Whereas the Right Honorable Charles Lord Baltemore by
his Petition hath set forth that he has not received any benefit
of His Majesty's Royall letter of the Ist February 1689. nor of
an Order of Council of the 26th of February 1690. both which
gave him leave by his Agents in Maryland to collect his Rev-
enues and Dutys there. That the Petitioner is informed from
his Agents in Maryland, that by reason of their long confine-
ments and other hardships they have layn under in that
Province, they were rendered altogether uncapable of acting
for the Petitioner, Whereby he has received no returns from
them this last shipping, Wherefore humbly praying His Maj-
esty's gracious protection to Mr Henry Darnell who for several
years has been the Petitioner's Agent and Receiver in Mary-
land, that he and such persons as he shall appoint may be
permitted to live peacably and quietly to act as formerly in
receiving the Petitioners dues and revenues in that Province
and that no ships and Vessels be cleared in Maryland before
His Lordship's said Agent & receiver General shall have
received his dues from the shipping there. They behaving
themselves peacably and with due submission to their Maj-
esties Government. His Majesty in Councill is this day gra-
ciously pleased to grant the Petitioner's request, and doth
hereby order that the right Honorable the Earl of Nottingham
principal Secretary of State do prepare a letter for His
Majesty's Royall Signature to the Governor of Maryland
accordingly,
a true Copy.
