mander in Chief if we shall so think fit or if we shall not
approve of such Guift or application that the said money or
value of mony be then disposed of and appropriated to such
other uses, as in the said Act or Order shall be mentioned and
that from the time the same shall be Raised, it remain in the
hands of the Receiver or Receivers of that our Province untill
our Royall Pleasure shall be known therein.
And whereas We are willing in the best manner to provide
for the support of our Government in Maryland, by setting
apart, sufficient allowance to such as shall be our Lieutenant
Governor or Commander in Chief for the time being within
the same, Our Will and Pleasure therefore is, that when it shall
happen that you shall be absent from our said Province, one
full moyety of your salary and of all Perquisits and emoluments
whatsoever, which should otherwise become due unto you,
during the time of your absence shall be paid and satisfied
unto such Lieut Governor or Commander in Chief, who shall
be resident upon the Place for the time being, which We do
hereby order and allott to him for his better maintenance and
for the support of the dignity of that our Government. Our
will and Pleasure is, that all publick monies raised or to be
raised within our said Province and Territory of Maryland for
the use and support of the Government there be issued out by
Warrant from you by and with the advice and consent of the
Councill and not otherwise.
And whereas by an Act passed in the Assembly in Maryland
the thirtieth day of Aprill 1679, an impost of two shillings per
Hogshead is laid upon all Tobacco exported out of our said
Province, one moiety of which impost, is by the said Act
appropriated for the use and support of the Government,
Our will and Pleasure is, that towards the maintenance in the
Government of our said Province, you take to your own use,
three fourth parts of the said moiety of the impost of two shil-
lings per Hogshead of Tobacco, appropriated as aforemen-
tioned by the said Act, And you are to take especiall Care,
that according to the intention of the said Act, the remaining
fourth part of the Moiety of the said impost be duly applied
towards the maintaining a constant Magazine with Arms and
Amunition for the defence of our said Province.
And that an Exact Accompt be made up of what has been
received of the said impost since the meeting of the late Con-
vention in Maryland, untill the time of your Arrivall in our
said Province, And that the same be transmitted into our Com-
mittee of Trade and Plantations and Commissioners of our
Treasury for our information.
And you are further to recommend to the Assembly in Our
Name, the raising of such other supplies from time to time as
