qualified and empowered to continue and maintaine the peace
and administration of the Lawes here, pursuant to which wee
have done and proceeded according alsoe to your Majties most
prudent directions of permitting the Lord Baltemore's Agents
from thence forth to collect and receive his Lordshipp's part
of the publick Revenues here humbly conceiving your Majties'
said instructions had noe retrospect to what had been by us
already and before the receipt thereof done in that particular,
whereby wee thought fitt to return and remitt to your Maj-
esties' Receiver Generall the whole imposition excepting onely
what is necessarily expended or reserved for your Majesties
and the countrys immediate service, An account whereof wee
have sent to your Majesties' said Receiver thereunto with all
humility referr, Wee have also herewith sent coppy of the
Act of Assembly by which the same became due to his Lord-
shipp and whereby it will appeare that the One moiety at least
is for defraying the publick charges and provideing of pub-
lick and private Magazines in the respective Counties for their
Defence and safeguard which not being complyed with lyes at
his Lordshipp's door to answer and make good, All publick
charges haveing generally (and more esspecially since the
present Lord Baltemore's accession to the Proprietary-shipp of
this Province, been defrayed and paid by an equall assessment
upon the Inhabitants by which it will appear that his Lord-
shipp is considerably in arrears to us your Majties subjects here,
Upon which account (Your Majestie haveing been most gra-
ciously pleased to take on you the immediate paternall princely
care of Us) Wee have been induced to remitt the whole duties
in to the hands of your Majestie's Receiver Generall as afore-
said there to be lodged untill a full determination of what shall
lye before your Majestie in dispute between his Lordshipp and
your Majesty people here, not in the least doubting of full
satisfaction from your most sacred Majestie in the measures
of distributive justice; nor in the least presuming to determine
the Proprietarie's Right untill your Majesties' pleasure therein.
As to what may be offered to your Majestie from our adver-
saries in these parts, wee humbly appeale to our Innocency
and your Majestys' gracious result upon respective pretended
proofes that may appeare against us, humbly presuming to
assure your Majesty that wee have acted nothing by any unjust
restraint of persons or injury to property, Of all which we have
made bold by meanes of Captain Iohn Coode Commander in
Chief of your Majestie's Forces here to render a more par-
ticular account in severall letters to your Majesties' principall
Secretaries of State.
As to Affaires relateing to your Majesty's service in the
Northern parts of this Continent, haveing received certain
