or alive, thereby driving them from their Habitations, soe they
have nott been less wanting in their obedience to his Majestie's
pleasure, signified by his Letter bearing date the Ist day of
Febry 1689 (and superscribed to such as ffor the time being
take care ffor preserving the peace and administring the lawes
in our province of Maryland in America) in severall causes
thereof butt perticurly whatt this Declaration and Protest of
the Agent of the Right Honble the Lord Propty of this prov-
ince, lames Heath will make manifest which said Agent doth
hereby signify unto all Persons concerned tht his Majesty in a
particular clause in his said letter, directs the said persons to
suffer the Proprietor or his Agents to Collect the Revenues
arising here, and to apply only such part thereof ffor the sup-
port of the Government as was usually allowed and applyed
by the Proprietor to that purpose the said Agent hath applyed
himselfe to such persons as assumed to themselves to be those
to whome his Majestie's said letter was directed who are the
said Iohn Coode and his associates and of them hath dethired
to give theire orders as well to such persons as have collected
any thing of the said Revenue to render the same Agent an
accompt thereof as to withdraw theire orders ffrom all persons
att present collecting the same butt that the same might be
left to the management of the said Agent and his Deputies,
Butt the said Iohn Coode and his associates contemning and
not regarding to comply with his Majestie's directions afore-
said, have denied and refused either to permitt any one to
give the said Agent any accompts of what has allready bin
collected on the accompt of Shipping which is the principall
Revenue of this province or to suffer him to collect any thing
ffrom the Shipps now in the province (which will be the Ship-
ping revenue of this yeare) contrary to the Lawes of this prov-
ince, which enjoin the same to be paid to his Lordshipp who
otherwise must receive his rents from the Inhabitants of this
province in moneyes) his Majestie's intention being as afore-
said likewise whereby as by divers others circumstances is
sufficiently obvious that notwithstanding the specious pre-
tences of the said Iohn Coode and his Associates as aforesaid
they have abused the King's Majestie by their ffalce declara-
tion and addresses, thereby to colour their designes in Tyran-
nizing over all such as will not joyne with them in their wicked
practices, who appeare to be the best & chiefest of the protes-
tant Inhabitants of this province as alsoe they have already
some, soe it is apparent their designes are to embezell and
apply to their own private uses the aforesaid Revenue, nott
only by taking Bills of exchange for the same into their owne
names butt for other reasons justly suspitious and as all due
methods will be taken to ffree the inhabitants of this province
