146 Records Illustrating the History of Maryland

P. R. O.

Colonial
Papers.

in rescuing our Religion lives and Libertys from that Pitt of
destruction that was prepared for them, we have esteemed it
our duty to the best of our abilitys to pay our utmost tribute
of Recognition and Congratulation.
Wee acknowledge dread Princes your Soveraign & due
undoubted right and title as to all your Dominions and Coun-
trys soe to this your Majestys Province of which we are Mem-
bers in despite of all the oppositions and contridictions of the
Priests Papists and their Adherents with which we are sur-
rounded.
Wee congratulate your happy coming to sway the Sceptre
of these Kingdoms that had perisht but for your presence that
trascendent luster your Royall virtues have given the Impe-
riall Diadem and that blessed union between your Majesties
and the Affection of your Protestant Subjects whose duty is
their happiness as your Royall merrits their Obligation.
As the Beames of your Extensive love for the Protestant
Interest have revived us at this distance so they have influ-
enced us with all alacrity and cheerfulness to demonstrate our
duty and gratitude to the best of our abilitys, and encouraged
our hopes and wishes for your Majestys gracious Answr to
the repeated Petitions of our fellow Subjects here to be cov-
ered by your Majestys appointment under the wings of a
Protestant Government. Nothing can bless us more, next to
your Majestys Welfare, in a long life and prosperous Reign,
& a succession of your Royall Offspring until time shall be no
more, which are the hearty and constant prayers of your
Majestys most devoted Loyall and obedient Subjects.
