Extract of a Letter from Coll: Spencer, secretary of Virginia
to Mr Blathwayt dated the 10th of Iune 1689.
The Inhabitants of Maryland most Protestants are rageingly
earnest for the Proclaiming their present Majesty's and will
not believe but orders have come to that government as well
as to this for Proclaiming their Majesty's and that the Govern-
ment have concealed the commands and are sometimes very
positive they will proclaime their Majesty's without the order
of the Government, which if so will unhinge the whole consti-
tution of that Government and dissolve the whole frame of it
Memd Upon Reading this letter My Lord Baltemore was
ordered to attend the Committee which was signified to his
Lordship as follows,
Councill Chamber the 30th May 1689.
My Lord,
Upon the Receipt of Letter from Virginia concerning Mary-
land His Majesty is pleased to Order your Lordship to attend
the Committee of Plantations tomorrow being Saturday at 11
a Clock in the Morning

My Lord Baltemore attending the Committee on the 30th
August 1689 Gives their Lordships an Account that he had
sent Orders to Maryland for proclaiming their Majesties not-
withstanding those orders were not arrived there.
Whereupon my Lord Baltemore is ordered to prepare
directions for the proclaiming the King and Queen in Mary-
land and the King will provide a Messenger whose charges
is to be defrayed by my Lord and Mr Pen which is signified to
his Lordships as follows

The Lords of the Committee of Plantations having taken
notice that although the Orders be arrived in Virginia for
proclaiming their Masjesties, which has been performed there
