all w^ch suffered & underwent a greate deale of Trouble &
inconvenience. The howse is therefore desired to take
the same into their serious consideracon ke of some
seasonable gratuity to be awarded to his hono^r such

people that the long continuance of
the sd hath pmpted & Emboldened them to
abuse habitants of this Province & to Exact &
Ex rbitant ffees contrary to Act of Assembly
A iso be added to the latter end of the sd Act
in manner following alwayes that not this Act nor
any thing therein corlteyned shalbe construed to Debarre or
hinder his Lo^pp the Lord Propry his heires or successo^rs or his
or their L^t Gen^rall or Cheif Gou^rno^r for the time being, during
the Continuance of this Act to constitute & apointe what pson
he or they shall thinke fit to officiate as sheriff in Charles
County, and that it shall & may be lawfull for his Lo^pp the
Lord Propry his heires or successo^rs or his or their L^t or Cheif
Gou^rno^rfor the time being to continue any sheriff or sheriffs
within this Province in his office a long^r time then the space
of one yeare pvided no Just complaynts sheriff or
sheriffs be made in open Co^rt to the Justices of such County
they officiate & by such Justices transmitted to the
L^t Gen^rall or G no^r for the time being, any thing in this Act
to the contrary notwithstanding
