      Bideford in the County of Deuon Marriner, my true & lawfull Liber A.

      Attorney, ffor & in my name & steed, but to & for the only

      use & behalfe of the sd Agnes Marshall, to aske, leuy, demand,

      recour & receiue of any prson or prsons wtsoeur inhabiting, re

      syding or abiding in Mary-Land, or in any other place, or places

      wtsoeur in Virginea. All such Tobaccoe, debts, dueties, &

      demands wtsoeur, wch are or shall be due or owing unto, or

      belonging, or deteyned from the sd Rich: Marshall deceased,

      eyther by bill bond, booke or accompt, or by any other wayes

      or meanes howsoeur or for any matter or cause wtsoeur And to

      bargaine sell & dispose of any plantaon or plantaons, land or

      lands, wtsoeur belonging to the sd Rich: Marshall in Mary-Land

      afores' or ellswhere in Virginia aforesd att such rates & prices

      as hee shall thinke fitt & agree for. Gyuing & by these prnts

      granting unto my sd Attorney my full power, good right & law-

      full authority in the premisses to doe, exequute, prforme, full-

      fill, and finish all & wtsoeur shall be needfull or necessary to be

      done in or about the sd prmisses by suite of Law, release, com

      position, or otherwise howsoeur in as large, ample & benificiall

      manner & forme as I my selfe may or might doe, if I were there

      prsonally prsent. Ratifying confirming & allowing all & what- p. 121

      soeur my sd Attorney shall lawfully doe, or cause to be done in

      the prmisses, to be as good & effectuall in Law, as if I had

      done the same in mine owne prson

      Maries 5 Jan Prnt Gouernor    plf agst Jno Norman deft for 500 l Tob: &

      Mr Brent.      cask. The deft denyeth the whole de

      mand but acknowledgeth 100 l Tob: And the Court fownd

      but 100 l to be due to the plf. & the plf to pay charges of Court.

     

        Vppon the demand of Lt Wm Lewis plf uers. Tho: Gerrard

      esqr deft. for 2245' Tob: & 8bb Corne. The Deft. making

      voluntary default of appearance. The plf was admitted to

      proue his demand.

        George Manners made oath for the plf, tht Thor Gerrard

      Esqr confessed tht hee heard Mr Gerrard acknowledge tht hee

      had 8bb of Come of the plfs out of a Boate concerning wch uery
