Chief Engineer Fendall addressed a communication to tha Commission repardinp the opening of the pavement on Columbia Avenue. i'r. Shoemaker moved that "r. "^endall be communicated with to the effect that the State Roads Commission has completed work on that portion of the Washington Road (Columbia Ave.) between Gwynn's ^alls ^rid^e and tha "Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, ^avir.p: completed this work it claims no further authority over same, and although it considers no formal transfer to the City necessary, if anything further is required, the Commission would be p-lad to comply with "r. ^endail's wishes. The motion was seconded by "r. Kutton, and adopted. The matter of the improvement of posyin Avenue from Piedmont to Duvall Avenue, and one square on 'nuvall to Garrison Avenue, was discussed by the "Board, and on motion of "r. Shoemaker, seconded by "Hr. Clark, the Chairman was authorized with the ^ounsel and Chief Engineer, to proceed with this matter as soon as th ay can get it into proper shape. The motion was carried. The attention of the "^oard was called to the question of providing openings alonr; the improved roads, and on motion of "r. Shoemaker, seconded by TIT. riark, it was ordered that all oper.inge to purlic streets or alleys be provided at the expense of the City's allotment, and that all openings to private properties be made only where thu property own-jrs reimburse the OommisEiun for the extra expense connected with the opjnin/?e. The motion was adopted. Chairman Tucker stated that Contract .^o200 under the supervision of the Springfield «?tate Hospital was practically completed, and the disposition of the T^elly-Sprir.cfield Road Pollar rented for use on this work, said rental to apply on the purchase price of same, was now before the "Roard for consideration. •nr. Clark moved that this roller be purchased by the State Roads Commit«ion, and the balance du 3 on same bs paid. The motion was seconded by rrr. Shoemaker, and adopted. A list of tools used on Contract .#0200, valued 'at $54.18 was submitted to the Commission for purchase from the Springfield State Hospital, and on motion of Kr. Shoemaker, seconded by -nr. Clark, it was ordered that these tools be purchased by the state Roads Commission and the price of same be credited on Contract ^0200, at such valuation as the maintenance department may deem fair. The motion was adopted.
