The Chief F.ngineer reported the death of Mr. *}. 7\ Digges, Inspector, and as to certain coupons used frora the mileage books in his possession prior to his death. T)r. Clark moved that tho estate of T'r. r>irges ba paid for hia services up to the time of his death, and that the coupons used from the mileage books b3 charged to the -eneral expense accoiint. A delegation of property owners living along the "Bel Air R^ad, Mr. ^. M. C-oreuch, spokesman, requested the commission to adhjrj to the original, plans as advertised for the "Rsl Air Road and that \vork on same "be commenced at the earliest moment. The Chairman stated that the matter v:ould receive consideration at the har.ds of the commission. A conmunicati on was received from the .Standard Oil Company regarding an oil compound for use on roads, and requesting an opportunity of having their engineer demonstrate its uses and "benefits on rjada. ''To action was taken in the matter. A communication was received from T'r. H. ?r. flark, Engineer, Wicoraico County, under date of April 28th, 1910, regarding the surfacing of the Salisbury-Alien Road with a bituminous binder, which ha thought would cheapen the coat of construction. The matter was referred to the "^nrineer for report at the next meeting. A letter from certain property o'.vnere alonr the Harford Road near the 6-I/ile House, dated April 22nd, 1910, requesting the placinrr of a pipe throurh their property so as to drain the water from their property into the run, was received and read. T-To action was taken in the premises. At 12:30 a T?3cass was taken for half an hour. On reconvening, the Chairman stated that I'essrs. House and Purst of the United Railways Company, who had been in conference with the Governor, the Attorney-C-aneral and himself, had agreed to take up with their Counsel the question of the a^re*» mont between the Railways Company and the Roads Commission, to see whether any of their rights will be prejudiced if they par-mit us to go ahead with the work or that they go ahead. Mr. Shoemaker moved that the action of the Chief Engineer in the employment of certain inspectors and other anployea in the engineering department, be approved. T)r.
