RoJA Page 71. Baltimore, Md., May 24th., 1909. Thirty-ninth i'seting. Present. Reading and Approval of Minutes. Plans and Specifications for Cecil County. Value of Baltimore & ?redericktown Turnpike and Boonsboro Turnpike. Rules and Regulations pertaining to "^ployees of Commission. "^lection of Chief Engineer, Report and Recommendations of Auditing Committee. A special meeting of the State Roads Commission v/as held this Monday, May 24th., 1909, at its offices, Union Trust Building, Baltimore, Maryland, at 10.30 o'clock A.M. Present: Governor Crothers, Chairman Tucker, Messrs. Shoemaker, Hutto.M, Remsen and Clark. The minutes of the previous meeting of the Commission were read and approved. Governor Crothers moved that the Chief Engineer be directed to prepare plans and specifications for that part of the State Road in Cecil County from Rising Sun to Calvert, a distance of about 3 or 4 miles. Mr. Shoemaker seconded the motion, which was adopted. Mr. C. W. Slagle, President of the Baltimore & Frederick-to-ATI Turnpike Company and of the Boonsboro Turnpike Company, appeared before the Commission in response to a communication to him from the Commission regarding the values of the tv/o turnpikes. Mr. Slagle reported the gross and net receipts and the expenses of the Boonsboro Turnpike, and stated that owing to the absence from the City of several pa-ties interested in the Baltimore ^ Fredericktown Turnpike Company, he preferred to communicate with them before taking up the Baltimore & Freder-inktov/n Turnpike matter The Commission and Kr. Slagle decided upon Tuesday, June 1st., at 10 o'clock A.M. as the time and hour v/hen the Commission would hear from the representatives of the Baltimore & Fredericktown Turnpike Company. Dr. Remsen moved that the Counsel and the Chief Engineer "be requested to submit to the Commission a set of Rules and Regulations pertaining to employees of the Commission, and to submit their report to the Commission at an early meeting. The motion v;as seconded by Governor Crothers, and adopted. Dr. Remsen moved the election of Mr. W. W. Crosby as Chief Engineer to the Commission for one year. Governor Crothers seconded the motion, which was adopted. Dr. Remsen moved that the report and recoinr.endations of the Auditing Committee be made the order of the day Tuesday, June 1st. 1909, at 10 o'clock A.M. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shoemaker, and adopted.
