No. 47-A - 110th U. S. Machine Gun Battalion Battalion Color No. 47-B - 110th U. S. Machine Gun Battalion National Flag (38 Stars) This unit was formed at Camp McClellan, Alabama, October 1, 1917. In its ranks were many members of the former Fourth Maryland Infantry and of the Machine Gun Company of the former Fifth Maryland. As the machine gun battalion uf the 29th Division, the unit served in the Alsace sector and in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. No. 48 - 117th U. S. Trench Mortar Battery Company Guidon This was a company guidon of the 117th United States Trench Mortar Battery, a component of the 67th Field Artillery Brigade, 42d ("Rainbow") Division. Originally formed from members of the Maryland National Guard, this battery was organized in August 1917 at Camp Mills, New York, and sailed from Hoboken on October 19th, landing at St. Nazaire, France, on October 31, 1917. It participated with the 42d Division in all offensives of that Division, notably in the Luneville and Baccarat Sectors, on the Chateau-Thierry front, and in the St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne offensives. Following the Armistice, the 42d Division marched into Germany as part of the Army of Occupation and was stationed at Ahrweiler. The Battery sailed from St. Nazaire on April 9th and landed at New York; then proceeded to Camp Meade, Maryland, where it was demobilized early in May. No. 49-A - 313th Infantry Regiment National Flag This was the forty-eight star national flag of the 313th ("Baltimore's Own") Infantry Regiment, a component of the 79th Infantry Division, which on September 26th participated in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, notably at Montfaucon and La Borne de Cornouiller. No. 49-B - 313th Infantry Regiment National Flag (48 Stars) This was the standard regimental color of the 313th Infantry Regiment and a companion flag to the above No 49-A. — 29 —
