WORLD WAR I FLAGS No. 44-A - 115th Infantry Regiment National Flag This is a forty-eight star national flag which the 115th Infantry Regiment carried in World War I. This regiment was organized at Camp McClellan, Alabama, October 1, 1917, as part of the 58th Brigade—a major unit of the 29th Infantry Division. The regiment was formed entirely of Maryland members of the three National Guard infantry regiments. The 115th Infantry departed from Camp McClellan on June 9, 1918 and sailed for France on June 15th. It fought on the Alsace front and in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. No. 44-B - 115th Infantry Regiment Regimental Color This regulation regimental color of the 115th Infantry Regiment was carried throughout World War I together with the national flag described as No. 44-A. No. 45 - 110th Field Artillery Regiment National Flag This is the forty-eight star national flag of the 110th Field Artillery. This regiment was organized at Camp McClellan, Alabama, on October 1, 1917 as a part of the 54th Field Artillery Brigade of the 29th Division. Its membership was made up principally of Guardsmen from Maryland and the District of Columbia. The regiment left Camp McClellan on June 18, 1918 for overseas duty. It sailed from Halifax by way of England and landed at Cherbourg, France, on July 16. After completing training in France, the unit was en route to the front when it received word of the Armistice. No. 46-A - 112th Machine Gun Battalion Regimental Color No. 46-B - 112th Machine Gun Battalion National Flag (48 Stars) The 112th Machine Gun Battalion, organized at Camp McClellan, Alabama, October 1, 1917 and comprised largely of individuals from machine gun companies and other units of Maryland and Virginia National Guard regiments, saw combat service with the 115th and 116th Infantry Regiments on the Alsace front and in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. _28 —
