No. 6-B - Third Regiment, Infantry, Maryland Volunteers Regimental Color As is the case with its companion flag, 6-C, only fragments remain of this regimental color of the Third Regiment Infantry, Maryland Volunteers. Probably it was similar to the color labeled 5-A and was carried from the organization of the regiment early in 1862 through 1864. No. 6-C - Third Regiment, Infantry, Maryland Volunteers National Flag Only fragments of this national flag of the Third Regiment, Infantry, remain. Probably it carried thirty-four stars and was used from the formation of the regiment through 1864. No. 6-D - Third Regiment, Infantry, Maryland Volunteers Regimental Color Bearing the State coat of arms on its obverse and the United States coat of arms with thirteen stars above the eagle on its reverse, this blue regimental color of the Third Regiment, Infantry, was presented to the unit late in 1864 or early in 1865 by Governor Augustus W. Bradford on behalf of the State. Under the State arms are numerous battle credits which include Cedar Mountain, Bull Run, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Petersburg and Weldon Rail Road. The Third Regiment, Infantry, was not a component of the Maryland Brigade. It saw combat in the Antietam Campaign, the Valley of Virginia, and the Gettysburg Campaign and shared in the relief of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Regiment also served through the Wilderness Campaign to Appomattox. No. 7-A - Fourth Regiment, Infantry, Maryland Volunteers Regimental Color This blue regimental color of the Fourth Regiment, Infantry, Maryland Volunteers, bears the coat of arms of Maryland on the obverse and that of the United States with thirteen stars above the eagle on the reverse. Battle credits listed under the State arms include Wilderness, Laurel Hill, Spotsylvania, Harris' Farm, Cold Harbor and Weldon Rail Road. It was presented to the regiment December 1, 1864 by Governor Augustus W. Bradford on behalf of the State. No. 7-B - Fourth Regiment, Infantry, Maryland Volunteers National Flag The Fourth Regiment, Infantry, carried this thirty-four star national flag, probably using it from the organization of the unit in 1862 through 1864. — 12 —
