State of Maryland                Be it remembered that the following Bond
             from   Ex.d   60      was recorded on the 19.th day of June 1848.
K. M. Jacobs & others        {Stamp}       Know all men by these presents
                                        {Six dollars}    that we Kendal M. Jacobs,
Francis P. Phelps and Turpin Wright, of Dorchester County in the
State of Maryland, are held and firmly bound unto the state of
Maryland in the full and just sum of Twenty thousand Eight
hundred and seventy four dollars and Eighty four cents, current Money
of the United States, to be paid to the said State, or its certain Attorney
To the which payment well and truly to be made & done, we
bind ourselves and each of us, our and each of our heirs, executors &
administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.  Sealed
with our seals and dated this fourteenth day of June in the year of
Our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty eight.

The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above
bounden Kendal M. Jacobs, appointed Collector of the Direct Tax for
Dorchester County, shall well and faithfully execute the Office of
Collector of the Direct Tax for said County and the several duties
required of him by law, and shall well and truly account for and
pay to the Treasurer of Maryland, the several sums of money which
he shall receive, or be answerable for by law, at such time as the
law shall direct, then the above obligation to be void, or else to
be and remain in full force and virtue in law.
