1752 LAWS OF MARYLAND [Ch. 482
AN ACT concerning
Health Insurance — Optometrists
FOR the purpose of providing that all health insurance
policies which insure expenses incurred for services
which optometrists are licensed to perform, must
insure the expenses when rendered by an optometrist.
BY adding to
Article 48A — Insurance Code
Section 477F
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1972 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 477F be and it is hereby added
to Article 48A — Insurance Code, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) to
read as follows:
Article 48A — Insurance Code
477F.
ALL GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE POLICIES, OR ANY
CERTIFICATE THEREUNDER, ISSUED OR DELIVERED IN THIS
STATE, OR ISSUED TO A GROUP WHICH IS INCORPORATED OR HAS
A MAIN OFFICE LOCATED IN THIS STATE, OR COVERING PERSONS
WHO RESIDE OR WORK WITHIN THIS STATE, WHICH PROVIDE
INSURANCE AGAINST EXPENSES INCURRED FOR SERVICES THAT
OPTOMETRISTS ARE LICENSED TO PERFORM UNDER THE PROVISIONS
OF ARTICLE 43, SHALL OBLIGATE THE INSURER, IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE OTHER PROVISIONS OF THE POLICIES, TO INSURE THE
EXPENSES WHEN RENDERED BY AN OPTOMETRIST.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.
