AN ACT concerning

Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance

FOR the purpose of requiring any person who has been
notified of the [[lapse or]] termination of the
required motor vehicle liability insurance to
voluntarily surrender his registration plates within
48 hours after receipt of the notification to the
Motor Vehicle Administration until the required
security has been obtained, and providing a penalty.

BY adding to

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws

Section 7-102(b-1)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 7-102(b-1) be and it is hereby
added to Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and 1973
Supplement) to read as follows:

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws
7-102.

(B-1) ANY PERSON NOTIFIED OF THE [[LAPSE OR]]
TERMINATION OF THE REQUIRED SECURITY PURSUANT TO
SUBSECTION (B) OF THIS SECTION SHALL VOLUNTARILY
SURRENDER HIS REGISTRATION PLATES WITHIN 48 HOURS AFTER
RECEIPT OF THE NOTIFICATION TO THE ADMINISTRATION UNTIL
[[SUCH TIME THAT]] THE REQUIRED SECURITY IS OBTAINED.
ANY [[SUCH]] PERSON WHO VIOLATES THIS SUBSECTION
[[SHALL]] MAY HAVE HIS OPERATOR'S LICENSE SUSPENDED FOR
NOT MORE THAN ONE YEAR.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.
