(Senate Bill 572)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 97 (e) of
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement
Volume), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrate
System", to authorize the appointment of deputy committing mag-
istrates for Anne Arundel County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 97 (e) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-
title "Trial Magistrate System", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
97.
(e) In Anne Arundel County there shall be such number of com-
mitting magistrates and deputy committing magistrates with such
compensation, powers and duties as are provided in the public local
laws thereof. THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY MAY FROM TIME TO
TIME PRESCRIBE. After June 1, 1965, no justices of the peace
shall be appointed in Anne Arundel County except those designated
as committing magistrates and deputy committing magistrates and
referred to in the first sentence above.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

(Senate Bill 221)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 19(1) of
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Criminal Jurisdiction", to
include Cecil County in this section which empowers justices of
the peace in certain counties to suspend sentence and place on
probation before conviction of any person accused of crime.
