(e) The positions of two substitute registrars in the office of the
Board of Supervisors of Elections of Allegany County are included
in the Classified Service of Allegany County. The persons holding
these positions as of June
JANUARY 1, 1963, provided they have held
those positions for not less than the six months immediately prior to
June 1, 1963, shall automatically be members of the Classified Service
and subject to all the rights and privileges provided therein for mem-
bers of the Classified Service. Their compensation shall be as set from
time to time by the County Commissioners of Allegany County and
in no event shall the compensation be less than $800.00 per annum.
IF
EITHER OF THE TWO SUBSTITUTE REGISTRARS WORKS AT
HIS DUTIES IN EXCESS OF FIFTY-TWO DAYS DURING ANY
FISCAL YEAR, HE SHALL BE PAID EXTRA COMPENSATION
IN ADDITION TO HIS BASIC COMPENSATION, AT THE RATE
OF FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($15) PER DAY FOR EACH SUCH DAY
OVER FIFTY-TWO DAYS IN THE FISCAL YEAR.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 230
(House Bill 167)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 25 (a)
and 25 (h) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1962 Supplement), title "Juries," subtitle "Qualification and
Selection of Jurors," increasing the per diem payment for jurors
in Garrett County AND RELATING TO THE EXPENSES OF
THE JURORS.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 25 (a) and 25 (h) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1962 Supplement), title "Juries," subtitle "Qualifica-
tion and Selection of Jurors," be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

25.

(a) Jurors in Washington County shall receive eight dollars per
day and a reasonable amount, in the discretion of the County Com-
missioners for each mile over five miles in going to and returning
from court; in Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Caroline counties,
and in Baltimore City, seven dollars and fifty cents per day; in
Somerset County, seven dollars and fifty cents per day; in Anne
Arundel and Montgomery counties, ten dollars per day, and no extra
allowance shall be given either for mileage or overtime in Anne
Arundel and Montgomery counties; in Carroll County, eight dollars
per day; in Prince George's County, jurors shall receive per diem
compensation, not less than five ($5.00) dollars nor more than ten
($10.00) dollars, in such amounts as shall be set, from time to time,
by the judges of the Circuit Court for said county and in all other
