Ordered, That the State Librarian procure for the use of the
members of this House twenty five copies of the Laws of Mary-
land passed in the year 1852.

Mr. Duvall submitted the following order, which was read and
determined in the negative;

Ordered, That permission be granted to the Committee on
Militia to proceed to Baltimore to obtain such information as will
enable them efficiently to discharge their duties, and that a clerk
be allowed said committee to record any testimony and informa-
tion they may deem necessary to take.

On motion of Mr. Bowie,                       

It was Ordered, That the Comptroller report to this House the
amount of gross receipts and the expenditures in the State To-
bacco Warehouses in Baltimore city for each year from 30th Sep-
tember 1850, to 30th September 1855; also, report the condition
of the tobacco fund; also, what amount has been expended in
building Warehouses; the amount of debt owing for erection of
said Warehouses; and whether in his opinion, a reduction of 25
cents in the outage of each hogshead of tobacco could not be
made without interfering with the probable demands upon said
fund;

Which was adopted.                                     

                                                   

On motion of Mr. Smith of Baltimore city,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to report
a supplement to the act incorporating the Dime Savings Bank of
the City of Baltimore.                                                   

Leave was granted to Mr. Daniel to introduce a bill authorizing
the Commissioners of Somerset county to build a new jail in said
county;                                                                                   

Which was referred to the Somerset county delegation.

On motion of Mr. Abbott,                                                   

Leave was granted the Baltimore city delegation to introduce

a bill authorizing the Appeal Tax Court of Baltimore city to hear

the appeal of James Murry and Henry R. Hazelhurst from the as-

sessors of said city                                                                         

Leave was granted to Mr. Daniel to introduce a bill requiring
certain duties to be performed by the Judges of this State;         

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.         

Also, leave to introduce a bill authorizing the compromise of
assaults and batteries, and supplementary to the act of 1831,
chapter 208;                                           

Which was referred to a Select Committee composed of Messrs.
Daniel, Toadvine and Bowie.
