Mr. Partridge, Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act authorizing the Com-
missioners of Baltimore county to levy a tax upon the first elec-
tion district of said county for the payment of the debt contracted
by the Commissioners of Public Schools under the act of 132,
chapter 287.
Also, on a bill entitled, an act to authorize the circuit courts for:
the several counties of this State and the criminal court of Balti-
more city to appoint assistant counsel for the State to aid in the
trial of criminal or other State cases pending in said courts, and
to oblige the county commissioners of the several counties and the
Mayor and city council of Baltimore to provide payment for the
services of such counsel;
Also, a bill entitled, an act to authorize the register of Wills,
and the clerk of the circuit court of Worcester county, to have the
record books in their respective offices repaired;
Also, on a bill entitled, an act granting the assent of the Legis-
lature to a bequest of a legacy made in the will of Sarah Hay-
ward, of Somerset county, to the vestry of Somerset Parish in
said county;
Also, on a bill entitled, an act requiring States Attorneys for the
several counties and the city of Baltimore to give bond for the
payment into the State Treasury of all moneys due the State and
received by them, and to make their receipts valid for the sums
received by them;
And unfavorably on a bill entitled, an act to make judgments,
rendered by Justices of the Peace liens on real estate.
Mr. Frazier, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, reported
favorably on a bill entitled, an act to pay Henry M. Murry for ser-
vices rendered the State in the case of McPherson Lyles;
Also, on a bill entitled, an act to authorize the payment of
Bradley T. Johnson, for professional services rendered to the
State.
Mr. Stubbs, Chairman of the Committee on Printing, submitted
the following:
The undersigned submits the enclosed letter from the State
Agricultural Chemist in explanation of the cause which has de-
layed the printing of the report of the said officer, and requests
that an abstract of the same may be entered on the journal of the
House.
