authorize and direct the Board of County School Commis-
sioners of Somerset county to borrow money on the credit
of said county for the purchase of a lot and the building of
a school building in Mt. Vernon District of said county,
suitable for a primary and high school to take the place of
Schools Nos. 1 and 2 in said district and to provide for the
heating and furnishing of said school and the sale of the old
school lots and buildings. " [Which was read the first time
and referred to Senators Parsons, Bennett and Shepherd. ]
By Mr. Joy: Senate Bill No. 614, entitled "An Act to require
to William H. Dowell, late treasurer of Calvert county, Mary-
land, certain money erroneously paid by him into the State
Treasury as State Taxes. " [Which was read the first time
and referred to the Committee on Finance. ]
By Mr. Duvall: Senate Bill No. 615, entitled "An Act to
appropriate ten thousand dollars ($10, 000) for the purpose
of building an annex to the Annapolis Emergency Hospital
in the City of Annapolis, Maryland, to be used as a Maternity
Ward and to provide for equipment of same. " [Which was
read the first time and referred to the Committee on Finance. ]
By Mr. Allen, by request: Senate Bill No. 616, entitled
"An Act to declare the sanction and consent of the General
Assembly of Maryland to the holding by the Mount Ararat
Baptist Church of Canton, Baltimore county, a corporation,
of the property described in a lease from the Canton Company
of Baltimore, to said body corporate, bearing date of the
twenty-third day of December, 1915, and recorded among the
land records of Baltimore county in Liber W. P. C. 456,
Folio 309, etc. " [Which was read the first time and referred
to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings. ]
By Mr. Allen, by request: Senate Bill No. 617, entitled "An
Act to amend Article 23 of Bagby's Annotated Code of the
Public General Laws of Maryland, title 'Corporations, ' sub-
title 'Public Service Commission, ' by adding a new section to
be known as Section 469, providing for a straight five-cent car
fare rate on the United Railways and Electric Company's
cars from any point in Baltimore city to any county seat
within eight miles from the City Hall in Baltimore. " [Which
was read the first time and referred to the Committee on
Judicial Proceedings. ]
