368                              Laws of Maryland                       [Ch. 281

being Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Washington County Code", sub-title "County Commis-
sioners", relating to increase in allowable expenditures for the
purchase of real estate by the County Commissioners of Washing-
ton County. AND TO ADVERTISING OF PROPERTY SOLD,
LEASED, DISPOSED OF OR CONVEYED BY THE COUNTY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 177 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Washington
County (1957 Edition, being Article 22 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Washington County Code", sub-title
"County Commissioners", be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

177. Conveyance or acquisition of real estate.

The County Commissioners of Washington County shall have au-
thority (1) to lease, to sell, at either public or private sale, and to
convey, or otherwise to dispose of and convey any real estate or
interest in real estate now held or owned or hereafter acquired by
said County Commissioners and no longer needed for public use-;
, PROVIDED THAT THE INTENT TO LEASE, SELL, DISPOSE
OF, OR CONVEY, EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF A CONVEYANCE
MADE BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND ANY FEDERAL, STATE
OR LOCAL GOVERNMENT, SHALL BE ADVERTISED IN A
NEWSPAPER HAVING GENERAL DISTRIBUTION IN THE
COUNTY, ONCE A WEEK FOR THREE SUCCESSIVE WEEKS
and (2) to buy at public or private sale or to accept without con-
sideration any real estate which in their judgment shall be useful
to Washington County; provided, however, that said County Com-
missioners shall not expend for the acquisition of property for any
one purpose an amount in excess of [Fifty Thousand Dollars
($50,000)] One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

(Senate Bill 282)

AN ACT to add new Section 407A and to repeal and re-enact, with
amendments, Sub-section 408 (a) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Harford County (1957 Edition, being Article 13 of the Public
Local Laws of Maryland), title "Harford County", sub-title
"Metropolitan Commission", said new section to follow immedi-
ately after Section 407 of the Harford County Code under said
title and sub-title, providing a new or alternate method of creat-
