the expenses of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uni-
form State Laws such sum as they may think proper, not exceeding,
however, [seven hundred dollars ($700.00)] eight hundred and fifty
dollars ($850.00) a year.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 202 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Washington County (1957 Edition,
being Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Washington County", sub-title "County Commissioners", au-
thorizing the County Commissioners of Washington County to con-
tribute annually to certain charitable institutions.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 202 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Washington
County (1957 Edition, being Article 22 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Washington County", sub-title "County
Commissioners", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

The County Commissioners of Washington County are hereby
authorized in their discretion to contribute annually to the [Com-
munity Chest] United Fund an amount not exceeding [Six] Twelve
TEN Thousand Dollars [$6,000] ($12,000), ($10,000), TO THE
WASHINGTON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY AN AMOUNT
NOT EXCEEDING TWENTY-FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS
($2,500), to the Fire Companies of Hagerstown an amount not
exceeding Six Hundred Dollars ($600) annually, to other fire com-
panies in Washington County an amount not exceeding Twelve Hun-
dred Dollars ($1,200) annually and to the Brunswick, Maryland
Fire Company and to the Highfield, Maryland Fire Company, each
an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Dollars ($300) annually.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.
