LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 38.

Benjamin, William Matthews, junr. John Sumalt, and Robert
Lyon, be and they are hereby appointed and substituted as a se-
parate, independent board of commissioners of the school fund,
for all that part of Baltimore county which is without the limits
of the city of Baltimore, in lien of the persons heretofore appoint-
ed, who reside in the county aforesaid, out of the said city of Bal-
timore, which commissioners herein named, shall have and re-
ceive all the powers and authorities vested in the commissioners for
Baltimore county by the act to which this is a further supplement,
and they may supply all vacancies happening in their board, so
that the same shall always consist of at least fourteen members.

To call on treasu-
rer annually for
one moiety of
school fund.

2. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners, or a majori-
ty of them, be and they are hereby authorised and required, to
call on for, and receive annually, from the treasurer of the wes-
tern shore of Maryland, one moiety of the school fund, to which
the said county is entitled, and which has not yet been paid
over, and to receive from the former commissioners a moiety
of the money by them received and not expended, which money
when so received, the commissioners herein named, or who
may hereafter be appointed, are hereby required to apply equal-
ly among the several election districts in said county, for the
education of poor children, in any way or manner they may judge
best calculated to promote the object of this law.

To render annual
account to treasu-
rer.

3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners aforesaid be and
they are hereby directed, under the penalty of one hundred dol-
lars, to render a full account annually to the treasurer of the
western shore of all the monies so expended by them, under the
provisions of this law.

To meet on first
Monday of April.

4. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid commissioners are au-
thorised and directed to meet at the court house of Baltimore
county on the first Monday of April next, and adjourn from time
to time to any place in said county, where a majority of said
commissioners shall think proper; and in case of death, resigna-
tion, disqualification, or removal out of the county, of one or more
of the commissioners aforesaid, a majority of the remaining shall
proceed to fill such vacancies, and there shall always be two com-
missioners in each election district of said county.

CHAP. XXXIX.

An Act relating to certain Tobacco Inspection Warehouses in the City of

Baltimore.

WHEREAS heretofore, under an act of assembly passed at No-
vember session one thousand eight hundred and three, entitled,
An act to authorise the levy court of Baltimore county to estab-
lish two additional warehouses in the city of Baltimore for the
inspection of tobacco, John O'Donnell, late of the city of Balti-
more, deceased, and Cumberland Dugan of the said city, did, un-
der the permission and sanction thereof, build certain tobacco in-
spection warehouses, the said John O'Donnell on his wharf or
ground on the lower end of the east side of Frederick-street or
O'Donnell's Dock, and the said Cumberland Dugan on the lower
end of the market space dork: And whereas, from the death of
the said John O'Donnell, his warehouse aforesaid, and the ground
attached thereto, have come by descent, and division of his es-
tate among his heirs, to his sons Columbus O'Donnell and Elliott
