1820.

for great inconvenience from the running at large of swine and
geese in said town; Therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
owner or owners of any swine or geese that may be found going
at large in the said Middle Town, in Frederick county, from and
after the first day of March next, shall forfeit and pay, for every
such offence, the sum of one dollar, and costs of prosecution, re-
coverable before any justice of the peace for said county as in
cases of small debts, in the name of the person informing, to be
applied, the one half to the use of such person, and the other
half to the trustees of the public school in Middle Town, for the
education of poor children.

CHAP. XXXVII.

An Act for the Relief of John Snider, of Frederick County.

WHEREAS John Snider, of Frederick county, has emigrated to
and settled in this state, and hath made a declaration as prescrib-
ed by law preparatory to his becoming naturalized at the expira-
tion of the limited period of residence; and the said John Snider,
since his emigration and settlement as aforesaid, has acquired real
property therein, and his title to such property, from his not hav-
ing become naturalized agreeably to the laws of the United States,
may be called in question to his great detriment and injury; There-
fore,

Passed Jan. 6, 1821

Preamble.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
title of the real property lawfully and fairly acquired by the afore-
said John Snider, whether such title be derived by gift, grant,
purchase or devise, be and the same is hereby as amply and as
fully vested in the said John Snider, as if the said John Snider
had become naturalized agreeably to the laws of the United States

before the acquiring of such real property; Provided always, that
nothing in this act contained shall in any manner defeat or affect
any right, title or claim, to the said property, or any part there-
of, acquired or prosecuted by any person or persons whatsoever,
before the passage of this act; And provided also, that unless the
said John Snider shall proceed according to law to make himself
a citizen of the United States, this act shall have no effect to take,
hold or acquire, real property as above mentioned, nor shall he,
or any person claiming under him, derive any benefit by this act,
but if the said John Snider shall die before the time when, by the
laws of the United States he may become a citizen thereof, no-
thing in this actor any law contained shall prevent him from trans-
mitting or transferring, by descent or devise, any real property
to any person residing within and being a citizen of the United
States, who may be capable in law to take and hold the same.

Proviso.

CHAP. XXXVIII.

A Further Supplement to the act, entitled, An Act for the Distribution of a cer-
tain Fund for the purpose of Establishing Free Schools in the several Coun-
ties therein named.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
