be and the same is hereby transferred and given to Balti-
more city court, or the judges thereof; and that all of the
aforesaid, act of Assembly, so far as the same relates to the
orphans' court of Baltimore county, be and the same is
hereby repealed.

An act to authorise John B. Wells to bring his Negro
Slaves into this State,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John B. Wells, although he may not reside in this
State, be authorised to bring into this State his negro slaves,
upon paying the tax provided by the act of eighteen hun-
dred and thirty-nine, chapter fifteen, and furnishing a list of
their names and ages to the clerk of the county in which
he may bring the same, to be recorded in said office, and
making affidavit that said slaves are slaves for life.

An act for the benefit of the Hagerstown Charity School.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of Washington county be and they
are hereby authorised to pay, out of the present or any fu-
ture surplus that may arise from the school fund of said
county, a sum of money not exceeding four hundred dol-
lars, to be used in the purchase of a parcel of ground, and
the erection of a school house thereon, in the town of Ha-
gerstown, by said Chanty School, and for the future ac-
commodation of its pupils; provided, said school house be
built within three years from and after the passage of this
act; and provided further, that the sum hereby authorised to
be paid for the purpose aforesaid, shall be taken from such
portion of the school fund of said county, as shall fall or
be distributed to the third election district of said county.
