CHAPTER 211.


An act relating to the removal of Criminal Cases from
Baltimore City Court,

Act of l809, ch.
138, repealed.

Sec. 49, ch. 65,
of 1805, in full
force.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That so far as relates to Baltimore city court, the twentieth
section of the act passed at November session, eighteen
hundred and nine, chapter one hundred and thirty-eight, en-
titled an act concerning crimes and punishments, be and the
same is hereby repealed; and that the forty-ninth section of
the act passed at November session, eighteen hundred and
five, chapter sixty-five, entitled an act to provide for the
organization and regulation of the courts of common law
in this State, and the administration of justice therein, be
and the same is hereby declared to be in full force and ef-
fect, so far as relates to said Baltimore city court.

CHAPTER 212.

1841.

An act in respect to Insurances for Lives for the benefit
of Married Women.

May insure the
lives of hus-
bands.

In case of sur-
viving husband.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall be lawful for any married woman,
by herself, and in her name, or in the name of any third
person, with his assent, as her trustee, to cause to be insur-
ed, for her sole use, the life of her husband for any definite
period, or for the term of his natural life; and in case of
her surviving her husband, the sum or nett amount of the
insurance becoming due and payable by the terms of the
insurance, shall be payable to her, to and for her own use,
free from the claims of the representatives of her husband,
or of any of his creditors; but such exemption shall not ap-
ply where the amount of premium annually paid shall ex-
ceed three hundred dollars.

fore husband.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in case of the death of the
wife before the decease of her husband, the amount of the
insurance may he made payable after her death, to her
children for their use, and to their guardian, if under age;
and in the event of their being no children of the wife living
at the time of her death, then to be paid to her, the wife's,
legal representative.
