14 NINETEENTH ANNUAL REPORT

The courses in archival administration given each summer by The
American University, in which we have participated for ten years, were
not offered this year. The Genealogical Institute was repeated, however, and
the class spent the day of June 30th at the Hall of Records. Perhaps these
classes whose students are recruited from every part of this country furnish
us with our best means of comparing our work with that of our professional
colleagues.

Of interest to all of us who find ourselves engaged in the new field
of Records Management was the course offered for the first time in June
and July of 1954 in this difficult field. As in so many other aspects of records
work, it was The American University and its Dean of Social Sciences and
Public Affairs, Dr. Ernst Posner, who assumed leadership in organizing this
work. It was my privilege to serve on the Advisory Council of the Institute
on Records Management.
