634 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 21,

On motion by Mr. Cooper,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act to add an additional section
to Article 56 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
"Licenses," sub-title "Hawkers and Peddlars."

On motion by Mr. Gorman,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to be entitled an Act to authorize and direct the
County Commissioners of Howard County to levy a sum of
money for David Carsen, executor of David Hayes, for taxes
erroneously paid by him and his late co-executor, Thomas
Donaldson, of said county.

Mr. Gorman, from the Committee on Corporations, re-
ported favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to add additional sections to be
numbered 221, 222, 223, 224, 225 and 226 to the Code of
Public General Laws, Article 26, entitled "Corporations,"
empowering railroad, canal, coal and iron Companies to em-
ploy a police force.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Cooper, from the Committee on the Chesapeake Bay
and its Tributaries, reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to protect fish and water fowl in.
the waters of the Elk river, in Cecil County, northward of a.
line therein specified.

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Cooper, from a Select Committee, reported favorably
the following bills :

Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore to fund its floating debt by the issue of
the stock of said corporation, to an amount not exceeding
$1,500,000.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 874, of Article
4, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Baltimore City,"
and to re-enact the same as follows.

Senate bill entitled an Act to add an additional section to
Article 56 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Li-
censes," sub-title "Hawkers and Peddlars."

Which were read the first time.

Mr. Freeman, from a Select Committee, reported favorably
the following bills :
