CHAPTER 650.
AN ACT to provide a sanitorium on the Eastern Shore of Mary-
land for advanced cases of tuberculosis, to appropriate a sum
of money therefor and to create a commission of administra-
tion thereof.
WHEREAS, The State has appropriated large sums of money for
the establishment of a sanitorium in the mountains of West-
ern Maryland for the treatment of incipient cases of tuber-
culosis and is wisely expending annually further large sums
of money for the maintenance of this and other like institu-
tions established for the same purpose; and,
WHEREAS, This great White Plague cannot be successfully
fought until there shall be a segregation of the unfortunate
victims of this terrible enemy of the human race; and,
WHEREAS, There has already been completed and instituted
near the City of Salisbury, in Wicomico county, Maryland,
splendidly arranged and located, by enterprising private citi-
zens having this object in view, but which needs the fostering
care of the State in order to accomplish this great purpose and
carry on successfully this great work; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sum of fifteen thousand ($15,000) dollars be and
is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Treasury of the
State not otherwise appropriated for the purchase of what is
known as the "Pine Bluff Sanitorium," situated on the Wicom-
ico River, two miles below the City of Salisbury, Wicomico
county, Maryland.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the sum of five thou-
sand dollars be appropriated out of any funds in the Treasury
of the State not otherwise appropriated for the erection of a
system of shacks or bungalows in connection with this institu-
tion.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the sum of five
thousand dollars for maintenance for the fiscal year 1912 and a
like sum of five thousand dollars for maintenance for the fiscal
year of 1913, out of any money in the Treasury of the State
not otherwise appropriated.
SEC. 4. Be it further enacted, That a commission to exe-
cute the purchase of the property described in section 1 of this
act, to properly and legally vest the title thereto in the State
