railroad company changing its motive power, in whole or in
part, from electricity or other motive power other than steam,
to steam, shall become subject to all the provisions of the laws
of this State relating to the taxation of railroad companies
whose roads are worked by steam power, and provided, how-
ever, that the provisions of this section shall not authorize any
railroad company to operate its cars or trains by steam or other
power along the streets of any city or town, or along any pub-
lic road, without the consent of the proper municipal or county
authorities.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 518.

AN ACT to amend Chapter 338 of the Acts of 1906, entitled
"An Act to incorporate the Sinepuxent Salt Water Inlet
Company by repealing sections 7, 8 and 14 of said act, and
re-enacting the same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 7, 8 and 14 of Chapter 338 of the Acts of
1906, entitled "An Act to incorporate the Sinepuxent Salt
Water Inlet Company," be and the same are hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said corporation is hereby
authorized and empowered to cut, dig and make canals or inlets
of any width or depth it may deem necessary or proper, at such
places on the eastern border of Worcester county, located north
or south of Ocean City, Assawomau, Sinepuxent, Chincotague
and Isle of Wight Bays, as may be necessary for securing in
these waters an ebb and flow of salt water sufficient for the
purposes of breeding and cultivation of oysters, clams and other
shell fish in any manner and time deemed proper by the said
company which is permitted by the laws of the United States
and consistent with the laws of this State not specifically modi-
fied by this act; and whereas the Isle of Wight, Assawomau
and Sinepuxent Bays have been unhealthy fresh waters for
many years past and unfit for the natural growth and cultiva-
tion of oysters and other shell fish by reason of the closing of
inlets formerly existing; and whereas, the land bordering on
said bays and tributaries has depreciated in value from that
cause; therefore,
