1616 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [Ch. 829]

Washington, Frederick and Gettysburg Railway Company,
all corporations duly incorporated under the laws of the
State of Maryland, said certificate of consolidation being
dated the seventh day of December, in the year nineteen hun-
dred and nine, and recorded in the Secretary of State's
Office at Annapolis, Maryland, in Record of Railroad Con-
solidations, folio 246, etc., so as to authorize and empower
the said Frederick Railroad Company to conduct the busi-
ness of manufacturing, accumulating, holding, carrying, dis-
tributing and selling gas; and to authorize the said company
to consolidate with gas and electric companies, other railroad
and electric railway companies and electric power companies.

WHEREAS, Frederick Railroad Company has heretofore, by and
with the consent and approval of the Public Service Commis-
sion of Maryland, purchased all the stock, common and pre-
ferred, of the Frederick Gas and Electric Company and now
holds said stock; and,

WHEREAS, The said Frederick Railroad Company desires to
consolidate with the said Frederick Gas and Electric Com-
pany and desires to have its charter amended, giving it the
right to conduct the business of a gas company, and to con-
solidate with other railroad and electric railway companies,
electric and water power companies, in accordance with sec-
tions 29, 30 and 31 of Article 23, of the Code of Public
General Laws of the State of Maryland, as amended by the
Acts of Assembly of 1908, Chapter 240.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Charter of Frederick Railroad Company be and
the same is hereby amended and its powers increased as fol-
lows : The said Frederick Railroad Company be and it is hereby
authorized and empowered to manufacture, sell and supply gas,
natural or artifical, and to carry on the business of a gas works
company in all its branches. To deal with, manufacture and
render salable coke, coal, tar, pitch, asphaltum, ammoniacal
liquor and other residual products resulting from the manu-
facture of gas. To construct, manufacture and maintain works
for holding, receiving and purifying gas, and all other build-
ings, works, meters, pipes, fittings, machinery, apparatus con-
venient or necessary for the purpose of the company. To pur-
chase, acquire, accumulate, hold, distribute and sell natural gas.
