house of m^r: David Browne of Manoakin y 16^th: this Instant I was present when Capt^a: Thomas Jones after ma
=ny threatning words Did lay violent hands on Richard Higgenbothem Tailor to thrust him out of Doores
being late att night & hee y said Richard refuseing to bee gon hee being in y present Service of y S^d Browne
was by y s^d Jones beaten severall blowes & after resistance made by y s^d: Richard Higgenbothem W^m
Leighton fell alsoe upon him untill parted by y said Browne whoe being Called Commanded his Lopp^s

2^d Tho^s: Jones afores^d laid hold upon y S^d: Browne when parting Leighton & Higgenbothem & rent his ~~
Shirt of his back & sides in severall parts Calling him Scotts rogue & rebell with many theatininge
expressions saying y^t hee had not a roofe to cover his head hee y s^d: Jones having a better right to y
house & had gott possession of itt or Some part of itt : / : ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
3^dly Then the S^d: Jones & Leighton went away being about eight or nine of y Clock att night & returning ~~
againe about midnight when all y family was quiett & att rest Did Call to open y Doore or else hee
would breake it open whoe not being answered Did endeavour y breaking itt open y said Doore which
not getting Done Did Call to Leighton to fetch fire with other expressions y^t I Did not Distinctly heare
upon which M^r: Browne Spake to Jones asking him what hee wanted & what hee meant who replyed
open y Doore for I am now Come with force & have gott more men upon which y said Browne Called
out att a windowe to y maid Servant who lay in y quarter to fetch a Coale to light a Candle and the
Candle being lighted & y Doore opened Two tall men besides Jones & Leighton fledd out of y porch & went
away as I heard y Said maid & Severall of y men Servants then Say y^t Saw them & further Saith not

other threatening expressions being often repeated as alsoe saying y S^d: Browne had not a roofe to
cover his head hee y S^d: Jones having a better right to y^t house then hee for he had gott possession of itt after(?)
