Ordered That the western shore Treasurer Pay to Capt.
Rogers of the General Smallwood Three hundred and fifty
Pounds on Acct
That the said Treasurer Pay to William Goldsmith two
hundred and one Pounds, fourteen shillings and six Pence
Bal of Ace't passed by A. G.
That the Issuing Commissary deliver to Capt. Matthews
four Barrels Beef two Ditto of Pork, one Do of flour & two
Gallons Vinegar for the Galley Independence.

[Council to Capt. De la Plane]

In Council May 19th 1778.
Sir.
Mr Keeports has Orders to deliver Cloathing to all Recruits.
It is not always in his Power, and never our Intention he should
give an undue Preference. Every Thing will be supplied as
quickly as possible. The Charge of 10/. per Week for your
Men's Lodging cannot be allowed here. Whatever you give
more than six Pounds per Pair for the Leather Breeches, must
be setled with the recruits; as far as six Pounds per Pair will
be paid. The Law allows six Pounds to the Recruiting Officer
for every Recruit, but not for substitutes. The Sheriff has
Orders to pay 40 Dollars, the State Bounty, for every Recruit
or Substitute, entering to serve for 3 years or during the War,
on a Certificate from the Lieutenant of the County. The £6
per Recruit, to the recruiting Officer and the same sum per
Pair for the Leather Breeches, must be setled and drawn
from the Treasury. We are &ca
