Paillotet, Joseph, opened an English and French School, and advertised a list of subjects (AMG 8 June 1773).  In 1773 Joseph placed an advertisement in the Maryland Gazette offering his services as "a master of the French tongue" (Wood, 37). From 1796 to 1810 he is listed in the Baltimore City Directories as a teacher of French, translator of languages or schoolmaster (Wood, 337).
