Lake, Rev. Charles, of AA Co., was inducted as incumbent of St. Anne's Annapolis on 7 October 1740 (SAVP: MHM 8:357). He served at St. Anne's to September 1743, and then served at St. James from 1749 until his death in 1763. He kept a school (Rightmyer, Maryland's established Church, p. 196). Rev. John Bowie attended this school (MHM 38:142; Potts:90).

On 10 Jan 1753 Stephen Pickering of AA Co., Gent., made a will, and among other bequests, left one guinea to Rev. Charles Lake to buy a ring in Pickering's memory (MWB 29:479).
Will: Rev. Mr. Lake died leaving a will dated Feb 1763 and proved 15 Aug 1764. He left his books, papers, and pamphlets of all sorts to Rev. Samuel Keene, who with Lake's friend William Keene, was named executor. Thomas Deal, Hester Wage (or Page), and Samuel Sprawl witnessed the will (MWB 32:256).
Estate: His executors, Samuel and William Keene, advertised in July 1765 that they would settle the estate (AMG, 4 July 1765). However, no inventory or administration account seem to have been filed in the Prerogative Court.
