Born in Winnsboro, SC, June 23, 1928.  Attended Baltimore City public schools; Morgan State University, B.S., 1953; The Johns Hopkins University, B.S., 1962.

General Assembly:
Member of Senate, 1975-82.  Chair, Maryland Legislative Black Caucus, 1976-77, 1978-80.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Served in U.S. Army, 1953-55.  Electronics engineer and corporate executive.  President, Eastside Democratic Organization. Vice-Chair, National Association of Black Manufactures.  Member, Baltimore City Council, 1967-74.  Member, NAACP.  Former Member, Provident Hospital Board.  Co-Publisher, Metropolitan Magazine.
