Mercator, Rumold

  • Orbis terrae compendiosa descriptio. This double hemispheric world map influenced world maps for a full century. It is one of the earliest printed maps to show the entrance to the Chesapeake. This first edition appeared in 1587 in Casaubon's Strabo Geography. 1587. MSA SC 1399-1-208 [HFC 087M5]
