The Maryland State Archives' On Demand Prints are made from high-resolution digital images with the aid of state-of-the-art scanning technology.  Colors in the On Demand Prints have been carefully matched against the original maps, documents, paintings and works on paper to ensure accurate reproduction.  These reproductions of material only available in the collections of the Maryland State Archives are made in-house by our digital imaging specialists.

The Maryland State Archives uses the Epson Stylus 9600 Ultrachrome large format color printer.  This equipment uses one of the most archival ink sets available and enables us to make reproductions up to 44" wide.  On Demand Prints may be ordered per patrons' specifications on the following premium Epson papers: Matte; Glossy Photo Paper; Heavyweight Glossy Photo Paper; Premium Luster Paper; Somerset Velvet (100% cotton rag) Paper; canvas; poster board.

Ordering information: All cartographic, photographic, paintings, and works on paper in the collections of the Maryland State Archives can be reproduced on demand.  All maps reproduced in Edward C. Papenfuse and Joseph M. Coale, III, The Maryland State Archives Atlas of Historical Maps of Maryland, 1608-1908 (2003) are available for purchase.  Images from the Annapolis and Peabody Art Collections, and the Archives' Special Collections may also be ordered.

Pricing: Please see our fee schedule for prices.  An additional fee will be charged for scanning if a digital image does not already exist.  Please note that orders from the works on paper collection are priced differently than all other orders.  All orders must be prepaid.  Please note that orders cannot be processed until we have received full payment, including all shipping and handling charges.

Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery for all On Demand Prints ordered from the Maryland State Archives.  We will let you know via email if your print is going to require additional production time.  The full shipping and handling fee includes up to five prints.
