Biography:

    William H. Long had a slave named Saul escape in June of 1840. While Long initially purchased a runaway advertisement in the local Somerset Herald, he would go to the Baltimore Sun several weeks later after the man was not found. He offered a fifty dollar reward for the 20 year old African-American.
