Lecture-Performances
In these engaging, up-close lecture-performances, Cleveland Ballet Dancing Wheels demonstrates the beauty of dance through the unique artistry of its dancers. In addition to performing various repertory dances, the company educates the audience about disability, choreography, and dance training through interaction and audience participation. These award-winning performances are tailored for specific audiences. Each illustrates the diversity of dance and captivates audiences of all ages.
Residencies
The opportunity to experience dance, explore creative abilities, and develop a strong technical base is available in the three- to five-day residency programs offered by Cleveland Ballet Dancing Wheels. These residency workshops offer professionals in the fields of dance, theater, rehabilitation, and physical therapy the opportunity to study Dancing Wheels' technique. They can then incorporate these methods into their work within the arts and disabled communities.
Residencies are open to students with and without disabilities and offer a full range of technique, composition, improvisation, and repertory. Each residency concludes with a performance by students and company members reflecting the week's work.
Mainstage Concerts
Cleveland Ballet Dancing Wheels has been recognized for presenting artistic works that represent quality, diversity, and professionalism.
Cleveland Ballet Dancing Wheels has performed at numerous theaters, colleges, and universities throughout the world. The critically acclaimed company tours its mainstage concert series, offering full-length repertory concerts that illustrate the elegance and diversity of dance. These works are choreographed by Sabatino Verlezza, Co-Artistic Director, and renowned guest artists such as May O'Donnell, Norman Walker, Charlene Curtiss, and Daniel Job.

Mary Verdi-Fletcher, Founder and Co-Artistic Director, created Dancing Wheels in 1980 as an opportunity for people with disabilities to play a more active role in dance. Born with spina bifida, Mary understands the challenges facing artists with disabilities. Her determination to change these negative perceptions allows many dancers the opportunity to perform and to achieve on a variety of levels.
Mary's experience as director, advocate and artist has helped her to meet many challenges and reach beyond the dance and disabled communities. By sharing her art, her knowledge and her talents, she has touched dancers and audiences throughout the world.

Sabatino Verlezza, Co-Artistic Director, joined Cleveland Ballet Dancing Wheels in 1994. After completing his MFA in Dance from the University of Michigan, Sabatino spent 15 years in New York City as a professional dancer and choreographer. He has performed with such dance luminaries as May O'Donnell, Sophie Maslow and Norman Walker, as well as directing his own company, Verlezza Dance. Sabatino's choreography has been staged on Joffrey II and numerous other professional dance companies. He has also been a faculty member of many colleges and universities throughout the United States. Sabatino continues the exploration of dance by creating imaginative repertoire for this unique company.
Dancing Wheels is a celebration of the spirit of dance. Dance is an expression of the human spirit. It is for all people of all abilities.
