Web browsing - interesting sites.

There will be a ½ hour break from 12:00 - 12:30 with light refreshments sponsored by the Friends of LBPH.

Regional Training

Some people learn better in a class. Others learn better when they work on their own project with someone available to answer questions and offer suggestions. In order to best meet your needs, we will offer two different styles of training for the Spring. Fax or mail in the registration form. There is no charge for the training.

DynaVox - Getting Started (9am - 4pm) This lecture style, hands-on class is designed for those supporting DynaVox and DynaMyte products, or those interested in an in-depth introduction to these products for evaluation or administrative purposes. Topics include modifying buttons, creating pages, short cuts and lots of ideas. Bring a DynaVox, if one is available.

DynaVox/DigiVox Workshop (9am - 4pm) Come alone or bring your team. Bring your device, your ideas, what you've put together so far, questions and problems you've run into. Come prepared to work on a specific topic or project'. Linda will act as your consultant for the day ... rotating among teams or groups. Hands-on ... so bring your device and your manuals. Be sure to list specific topics of interest on the registration form.

The Communication Aid Manufacturers Association

(CAMA) is a not-for-profit organization of the world's leading manufacturers of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) software and hardware products. CAMA conducts more than 30, 1-day workshops throughout the US and Canada each year.

The workshops are designed to help participants increase awareness of the diversity of AAC products, distinguish between the type of products offered, understand their functional applications and identify how clients might benefit from these devices.

Mike has assisted many families, including individuals with visual impairments, to connect to and explore the Internet. Be a part of the excitement, learn how to access it, discover what you will find, what you can add to it, what it can do for you. Learn about sending and receiving e-mail, research databases and special interest groups. This is a hands-on session, so bring your specific goals. LINC members, free; nonmembers, $25. A light supper will be served.

3) Saturday, April 10th Hands-on JAWS
Mike Birkmire & David Goldfield, Computer Trainer at AbilaTech in Philadelphia

David is a computer user who is blind. He uses Windows 95 with speech output on a daily basis. This workshop will provide hands-on experience using the latest in computer technology and JAWS for Windows, a screenreader developed by Henter-Joyce. Mike and David will instruct persons who are blind or visually impaired how to read electronic text with the computer, access Microsoft Office 97 and navigate the Internet using Windows. LINC members, free; nonmembers, $10. Limit 10 people (members first). Refreshments will be served.

4) Wednesday, April 14th 4:30-6:30 P.M.
Making Your Own Single Switch Adapted Mouse for the PC or Mac

Registrants will learn how to adapt their computer's mouse for single switch access. If registrant provides mouse, the cost of workshop is free to LINC members. $5 for nonmembers. If LINC provides the mouse, the cost is $15 for members, $25 nonmembers. Please specify which platform (PC or MAC) you will be using prior to registering. A light supper will be served.

LINC is a non-profit resource center which provides opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to use computer technology to achieve independence and productivity in personal and community life.
