284 Contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided &c Whereupon the same Attorney of the said Lord propry for the same Lord proprietary prays the advice of the Court herein the premisses and that due process of Law in this part against the same Patience Bowles may be made to Answer unto the same Lord proprietary of and upon the premisses &c Thereupon Command is to the sheriffe of Somert County that he should Take the said Patience Bowles if &c to answer &c And now to witt at that same Court held for the County af.d at dividing Creek this fifteenth day of June Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and forty two before the af.d Justices Came the af.d Patience Bowles in her proper person According to a Certain recognizance by her and her Security in this part first Acknowledged and had a hearing of the Information af.d and saith that she Cannot deny but that she is guilty of the premisses af.d in the Information af.d specefied above upon her Imposed in manner and form as by the Information af.d above upon her supposed and maketh Oath that a Certain Edmond Knowles Junr is the begetter of the bastard Child she stands Informed for and is willing to pay her fine for the fact af.d &a Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being seen and by the Court here fully understood It is Considered by the Court here that the af.d Patience Bowles pay unto his said Lordship the Right Honrble the Lord propry for her fine by the Court hereupon her Imposed for and by Occasion of the premisses af.d whereof in form af.d she is Convict thirty shillings Curr.t money of Maryland and that the said Patience Bowles be taken to satisfie his said Lordship of the fine af.d &c Whereupon the said Patience Bowles is ordered to give Security to save and keep Indemnified the Justices of the County of Somerset and their Successors from all troubles burthens and Charges that might Accrew by means of the birth maintainance and bringing up of the Child af.d &c Thereupon the said Patience Bowles with George Mckean of Somerset County planter ^her Security^ present herein Court in their proper persons Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his said Lordship the Right Honrble the Lord proprietary of the province of Maryland in Forty pounds Curr.t money of their bodys goods or Chattles Lands or tenements severally to be made and Levied to the use of the Inhabitants of the County of Somerset for the time being If it happen that the said Patience Bowles and George Mckean their heirs Executors Adm.rs or any or either of them doe not from time to time and at all times hereafter acquit discharge and save harmless as well the Justices of Somerset County Court for the time being as allso the Inhabitants of said County of and from all Costs Charges and burthens whatsoever for or by Reason of the birth maintainance nourishing and bringing up of the Child af.d and of and from all other suits Charges troubles or demands whatsoever touching or Concerning of the same &c Whereupon the said Patience Bowles is ordered to give good security for the payment of all Fee or Fees due on the |
