State of Maryland Harford County to wit
       I hereby Certify that the bearer hereof negro
Benjamin five feet four inches high about
twenty eight years old of a dark complexion
has a small scar on the back of his left writ
became free by virtue of a manumission
executed ^by Barnet Preston^ the eleventh day of February
Eighteen hundred and seven on the
eleventh day of February Eighteen hundred
and twenty one which said manumission
was duly executed and recorded among
the land records of Harford County Court
          In Testimony whereof I have hereunto
          set my hand and affixed the
          seal of my office this fourteenth
          day of February 1826

                         Negro Shadrack

State of Maryland Harford County ss
             I hereby Certify that Negro Shadrack the
bearer hereof five feet Eight and a half Inches
high about twenty four years of age of a black
Complexion became free by Virtue of a manumission
Executed on the twenty seventh day
of October ^seven^Eighteen hundred and Eighty two
and recorded amongst the land records of
Harford County Court the said negro Shadrack
has a large scar on the under side of his right
arm nearly extending from his hand to the
elbow occasioned by a burn and several small
scars on his left hand and was raised in the
